Dark Pink Hollyhock (Alcea rosea) is an heirloom strain of unknown origin acquired from the 2020 Plant, Seed and Craft Fair in Ojai, California. An unintentional seed crop - I was particularly struck by the sturdy, upright stalks that give yield to multiple blossoms, plus these plants showed a peculiar resistance to squirrel predation. -Quin
Hollyhocks are annual flowers that will produce blossoms in approximately 90 days when seeded in ideal climate and soil conditions. While highly adaptable to soil types and watering regimes, harsher growing conditions will prolong days to flower.
