Our tobacco collection contains two packets of Nicotiana tobaccum – a Virginia type along with the coveted "Shirazi" variety – and one packet each of Huichol Tobacco (Nicotiana langsdorfii), "Hopi" / Rustica Tobacco (Nicotiana rustica), Sylvestris / Woodland Tobacco (Nicotiana sylvestris), and Nicotiana quadravalvis. The tobaccums are the most commonly used species used today. The latter three species are frequently grown for ornamental purposes or their strong regional/historical associations with the indigenous members throughout the Americas.
